Day Two - race update and video

4 November 2014

Day Two of the ISDE has involved plenty of drama as the terrain has been taking toll on both the riders and their bikes.

Both team Australia and USA suffered from issues yesterday, losing Senior Trophy team riders to injury and bike failure. So today they needed to be a little more conservative, rather than having six riders enabling them to drop a riders worst round, every riders scores would count.

This saw a significant shake up in the Trophy team standings with Australia moving to second and the USA slipping to fourth.

The Wellard Club Team put in a solid day and extended their lead over second place to more than 16 minutes. But with four more days of competition to go, anything can happen so we will not pop the champagne cork yet.

Chris and Gary had an epic battle for bragging rights within the team and with less than 1 second separating them after seven hours of fierce racing, Chris managed to claim the day.

Overall in the C2 section all three Wellard riders fill the first three places which is an added bonus to lead the class. Chris again holds top spot with Gary second with Andrew in third.

Another day littered with crashes saw Andrew less than happy with his day, which started out a lot better than it finished. Though very fast little mistakes crept in, thus not letting him ride to his full potential.

We move into Day Three tomorrow. Experienced ISDE riders consider this the toughest day of the event as bodies are a little more tired and keeping focussed is just that that little bit harder. All riders will need to be on their game as we also head to new terrain and special test.

So keep tuned in to see how things unfold from here.
